Bloomsburg Women's Basketball falls to Southern Connecticut

BLOOMSBURG - A balanced Southern Connecticut offense led the Owls to a 71-47 victory over the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team on Tuesday night. Southern Connecticut had four scorers in double digits, led by Shamika Jackson who scored 13 points and Babette Noah who had 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The Owls jumped out to an early 11-2 advantage and controlled the game for most of the first half. However, with 14:58 to play in the second half, the Huskies went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 44-32, but Southern Connecticut then responded with a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.

Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/ Wyoming Valley West) scored a game high 15 points to lead Bloomsburg, while Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/ Athens) and Kim Dodson (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) each contributed 10 points each.

Southern Connecticut improves to 5-2 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 2-3 on the year. Bloomsburg will return to action on Saturday when they host Fairmont State at 6 p.m.
